The Clayton Historical Association was founded in 2007.
Our mission statement
is to preserve and share the history of Clayton and to recognize and preserve the historic properties of Clayton.
Short Term Goals:
✓ Incorporate and establish non-profit status
✓ Recruit interested members
✓ Raise funds
✓ Work with the Town of Clayton
✓ Schedule ongoing events, programs and activities
✓ Participate in the Historic Home Tour at Christmas
✓ Offer Historic Plaques for homeowners and businesses
✓ Provide visitor information and self-guided tour brochures
Long Term Goals:
· Help establish a museum for Clayton
· Purchase and restore historic properties
· Record history through oral and video interviews
· Clayton History Day
The Clayton Historical Association has sponsored the following:
- The Clayton Historical Association dedicated the Civil War Trails Marker, “Flag of Truce: Negotiating for Raleigh”, part of the state-wide North Carolina Civil War Trails Marker Program, on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at the Clayton Town Square.
