A Caretaker Guide will provide safe passage through the ground’s winding paths by lantern light. As you stroll through the historic Clayton City Cemetery, you’ll meet real-life spirits from Clayton’s history, portrayed by live actors at various stops. Hear their fascinating tales of life, love, loss—and maybe a few chills along the way.

👤 Meet the Spirits:

• Ashley Horne - Post-Civil War businessman and community leader

• Sarah Stallings – A pioneer who once owned much of downtown Clayton

• Quinton C. Mial – African American School Teacher and Community Leader

• Jessie Jenkins Thurston - Started the Woman's Club of Clayton, and was a writer for the Smithfield Herald
